Another cellphone scam

22/02/2012 The South African Rugby Union (SARU) has become aware of yet another cellphone scam aimed at rugby supporters.

The South African Rugby Union (SARU) has become aware of yet another cellphone scam aimed at rugby supporters.

SARU would like to ensure people that there is no such thing as a "SA RUGBY 2012 AWARD PROMO", where prize money of R100,000 is offered. Any such SMS should be deleted.

Typically, the message reads: “Congrats! Ur phone no has won R100.000 on the SA RUGBY 2012 AWARD PROMO, your winning no is: B216P, pls. call [cell number] from (8:am t0 5pm) for your prize."

“We would like to reiterate that no competition of such nature has ever existed and that the SMS should be ignored,” said a SARU spokesman.
